Akranesviti: a space for music creation was a project led in the summer of 2015 by Ásbjörg Jónsdóttir. It was an interdisciplinary project which involved an architecture student, mechatronics engineer student, a sound engineer and a composer. The project's aim was to compose music with special notion to the acoustics of the lighthouse (Akranesviti), using results from the sound research done in the lighthouse.

Jónsdóttir composed two different pieces:

Home Is Where Your Light Is for soprano and electric guitar. Specially written for Heiða Árnadóttir and Hilmar Jensson.

Home Is Where THE Light Is for flute and cello. Specially written for Sunna Friðjónsdóttir and Þórdís Gerður.

Both pieces were composed under the influence of the space in the lighthouse and using tone material based on sound tests run in the space. The pieces are partly improvised, the improvisation is guided. In the pieces the lighthouse, the nature and the ocean come together in both a lyrical and human way. They were both performed and recorded in the lighthouse in September 2015.
